The Messerschmitt Me 109 K-14 was the last projected version of this excellent aircraft. It was developed as a high-altitude fighter. It was based in the proposed K-6 version. As the last mentioned, the K-14 would be fitted with a formidable armament: 2 X 13 mm MG 131 above the engine, 1 X 30 mm MK 108 Motorkanone and 2 X MK 108 cannon under each wing, housed in bulged pods, with 45 rpg. Alternatively, the wing MK 108s could be substituted by 20 mm MG 151/20s, with 100 rpg. The K-14 was to be powered by the two-stage supercharged DB 605L engine, using a four-bladed propeller. Maximum speed would be 760 km/h (470 mph) and operational altitude of 12,000 m (39,000 ft) was projected. As few K-6 prototypes were built and tested at the Erprobungstelle Tarnewitz weapons-testing centre on the Baltic coast, it is possible that at least one airframe of the K-14 version was constructed before the end of the war. Also, it is believed that 600 set of wings with 30 mm cannon were contsructed by the end of the WW II. Some sources mention that two airframes were delivered to II./JG52 under Major Wilhelm Batz in late spring of 1945, these being armed with only 1 X 30 mm cannon, but this information cannot be positively confirmed.
